Windows driver not working?

Early reports state that the Windows driver download from Neptune’s Support site does not work.

Windows should normally just install the drivers itself, no additional downloads required. Be sure that you-

  • Have your Pine set to “CONNECT TO PC” usb mode. This is the mode you need to use for rooting, or installing Play Store.
  • Wait at least a minute so Windows can locate and download the appropriate driver. If it does, then you don’t need to install anything.
  • Additional Troubleshooting Steps found HERE.

Hidden Test Menu *#*#4636#*#*

To access, just go to the dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#*. This secret code is not exclusive to the Neptune Pine. It should be available in any Android device.  Under Device Info you can find the IMEI, useful battery information, cell signal strength, LAC and CID information.

It is recommended to not change any setting here. In Device info page, you can also set preferred network type. This is set elsewhere to “Automatic”, so don’t change it unless you really know what you’re doing.

Official Neptune Support page and Windows Drivers

Neptune published their official Support portal for the Pine yesterday! This is the best place for support if you need answers or help from the source!

Also, buried on that page are the much requested Windows Drivers for the Neptune Pine! The package was in compressed RAR format- since I’m aware many people might not know how to deal with a RAR, I’ve recompressed it into a zip, located here: Neptune Pine Windows Drivers ZIP

Update: it’s reported that these drivers don’t work, so your mileage may vary. Let us know if they do for you.

Brian, (or Bedwa on XDA), has been putting a lot of his own time and energy into getting a Custom Recovery working on the Pine. Once Custom Recovery is possible, then that opens the door for Custom ROMS. His previous accomplishment was creating the simple Google Play install method found here.

As you know, everyone’s time is worth something- so if you hope to use Custom ROM’s on your Neptune Pine in the future, toss him a a few dollars to show him your support!
